How do I book SCL services?

Our Holiday Club and Term-Time services are bookable online using our simple, secure booking system.

How do I register for an account?

Start the process of making a booking on our booking system, where the details you enter will be used to create an account.

Can I pay the club leader on the day?

We do not accept payment on the day at our clubs, all bookings are to be made online through our booking system. This is to ensure that your child is included on our registers and that we have all the information we need.

Can I get a refund if my child doesn’t attend?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for bookings that are not fulfilled. We staff our clubs based on the bookings we have received and therefore costs cannot be recouped for unfulfilled bookings. We do however offer a flexible booking system where bookings can be made up to the day before the club.

Exceptions may be made in circumstances of illness or injury when a doctor’s letter may be requested.

Can I pay using Childcare Vouchers?

Yes, we accept over 15 types of Childcare Voucher as payment for our clubs. For more information, please see our Childcare Vouchers page.

How do i use an SCL Promotional/Discount code?

Promotional (“promo”)/Discount Codes

Promotional/discount codes can be used at checkout when you make an online booking. All codes are for Holiday Club bookings only and are subject to additional terms and conditions.

All codes can only be used once. Codes cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers and are only applicable to new bookings. Promotions apply to selected venues only.

SCL reserves the right to exclude venues and cancel the promotion at any point, with immediate effect. This may be at one or all of the venues.

What will be the ratio of children to coaches?

For children aged four or five, there will be one coach for every 8 children. For children above the age of five, there will be one coach for every 16 children.

What training or qualifications do your staff have?

All SCL Active staff hold DBS certificates and are first aid trained. The leaders at every site will hold a minimum of a Level 3 Playwork or PE & School Sport Diploma and a Level 1 Coaching Qualification in a specific sport.

My child has special educational needs, are your clubs suitable?

Our staff are trained to cater to additional needs; however, we ask that you get in touch to discuss your child’s specific needs prior to booking. You can call us on 0345 644 5747 or email enquiries@wearescl.co.uk.

What ages can attend the holiday club?

We accept primary school children aged 4-12. If your child is four but has not yet started in Reception, we won’t be able to accept them until the following year. This is in-line with OFSTED legislation.

Can my child attend selected days?

Yes, we are a flexible provider and bookings can be made for one day at a time, or entire weeks at once. The choice is yours.

What does my child need to bring on the day?

Your child will need to bring a refillable bottle of water, a packed lunch and a couple of snacks for the mid-morning and afternoon breaks. Our clubs are nut-free zones so please make sure that the food your child brings does not contain nuts.

What should they wear?

Your child should come dressed in comfortable clothing and footwear and bring extra clothing with them such as a raincoat, jumper or sun hat, depending on the season.

As they will be taking part in both indoor and outdoor activities, it’s best for your child to wear something that you don’t mind getting a bit messy.

What kinds of activities will my child be doing?

The activity programme depends on the club you’ve chosen for your child. For example, if you’ve booked one of our themed Holiday Clubs, such as December Wonderland, your child will enjoy a Christmas Disco and festive arts and crafts.

Will food/drinks be provided?

We don’t have access to kitchen facilities at our clubs, so we’re unable to provide food. We therefore ask that your child brings a refillable bottle of water, a packed lunch, a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack.

Our clubs are nut-free zones so please make sure that the food your child brings does not contain nuts.

Can we collect at any time during the day?

Our Holiday Clubs have two day lengths: Standard and Extended. The Standard day runs from 09:45 to 16:00 and Extended from 08:00 to 18:00.

You are welcome to drop off your children late and collect them early. For late drop offs, please notify our Customer Service team and for early pick up, please let the site leader know at drop off.

If you are running late to collect your child, please call our Customer Service team and they will notify the site leader. Please note that we reserve the right to charge £5 for every 15 minutes after the designated collection time.

How much time will children spend outside?

We try to spend as much time outside as we can when the weather is suitable. Our clubs are a great way to provide kids with some time away from screens during the holidays! In extreme hot or cold weather, we are equipped to run our full programme indoors.

My children are in different age groups, can they stay together?

Yes, whilst we use age groups to ensure our activities are best suited to different ages, we are happy to let siblings stay together for the day.

What will my child get for breakfast?

Children will get a healthy breakfast made up of a selection of the items on our regularly updated menu.

Can my child bring their own food to Breakfast club?

Yes, providing it follows the healthy eating guidelines of our menu. Please ensure that the club leader or Customer Service team are aware and that no nuts are included in your child’s breakfast.

How do my children get to class after their Breakfast club?

When school starts, our club leaders will escort your child to the staff member on duty, who will take them safely to their class.

How does my child get to their After School Care club?

Our club leaders will collect your child from their class at the end of the day, making sure they’re not alone and get to the club safely.

What will my child be doing at After School Care club?

Children will be kept active and engaged with fun activities and games, as well as the opportunity to get a head start on their homework.

Will food/drinks be provided at After School Care club?

A healthy array of snacks and drinks will be provided, and each child can choose what they’d like from our menu.

What time should I collect my child from After School Care club?

After School Care Club finishes at 6pm at most schools. You are welcome to collect your child early – please let our Customer Service team know.

Yes. You will need to let them know the on-site collection password that you set up when you created your account, and we ask that you also notify the club leader or our Customer Service team too.

Our After School Activity Clubs are booked on a course basis, so we don’t offer one-off bookings. If you have missed the first session of a course, please call our Customer Service team and we will try our best to get your child booked on for the rest of the course.

What activities are available?

Activities vary from school to school. To see what we offer at your child’s school, please visit our booking system.

What should my child bring/wear?

This depends on the activity that they are taking part in. There is guidance available at time of booking and in your booking confirmation email.

Are food/drinks provided?

Food and drinks are not provided at our After School Activity Clubs. Please send your child with a refillable bottle of water.

Can my child attend a taster session before booking the course?

Unfortunately not, but our Customer Service team are happy to explain the structure and content of the clubs and/or arrange for you to watch a session.

Are your sites Ofsted Registered?

Yes. Visit Find an Ofsted inspection report and search for the venue for more information.

Will I be informed of Ofsted visits?

Yes, but only if you’re expected to be contacted as part of an Ofsted visit.

What is your Audit procedure?

SCL’s Head of Quality and Compliance arranges site visits that are conducted by our management team. Staff and sites are inspected and verified against the Ofsted framework.

What happens if improvements are needed?

In the unlikely event that this happens, a site plan is put in place to ensure any required improvements are discussed with the site leader and a date for this to be completed is agreed.

What registration forms do I need to complete?

You only need to complete the online booking form and ensure the details entered are up to date.

How do I check my child in for the day?

When you arrive on site, you will need to register your child at the SCL reception area.

What is the collection procedure at the end of the day?

Collection will be at the same place as registration. If you arrive and the site is locked, you can gain access by either calling the site phone number displayed or using the SCL doorbell. You will need to know the collection password you set up when you created your account.

What is your child protection procedure?

SCL staff have a duty to respond if they suspect a child may be suffering from or makes a disclosure about abuse. In this circumstance staff will contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead and log this concern on internal systems. We may also contact the local authority for further support and advice.

What is your safeguarding policy?

How often do you carry out risk assessments?

We have a full risk assessment carried out on all sites that is reviewed annually. We also carry out daily risk assessments throughout the year which highlight any areas that require action.

Are your staff First Aid trained?

Yes. Our site leaders are trained in Paediatric First Aid and our support staff receive Level 1 First Aid training.

What training and qualifications do your staff have?

All of our staff have an enhanced level DBS check. Every staff member completes extensive online training and an on-site training day before they’re authorised to work at our clubs.

What are you doing to make your sites CoVID safe?

All SCL staff are required to wear a face covering, unless they are medically exempt, and take regular lateral flow tests to ensure they are Covid-free. We have a strict cleaning regime that includes all surfaces that the children use, including tables, equipment and all touch points.

What happens if a member of staff develops CoVID related symptoms?

SCL are committed to the wellbeing of their staff and customers. If a member of staff shows any signs of COVID-19 (a temperature, cough or difficulty breathing), they will be sent home to follow Government regulations. If they test positive, the rest of their class or group within their childcare or education setting will be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 10 days.

Are there additional hygiene measures in place?

Yes. We encourage regular hand washing between activities and provide hand sanitiser at various touch points, including in our reception areas. Our staff regularly clean equipment after use and encourage children to take their rubbish/food wrappers home with them to dispose of.

What happens if my child develops CoVID related symptoms?

Your child will be isolated from the rest of the group and will be looked after by a member of staff until they can be collected. You will be advised to follow the COVID-19 guidance for households with a potential infection.

If your child tests positive within 48 hours of attending an SCL session, please inform us immediately on 0345 644 5747 or email enquires@wearescl.co.uk.

How will activities be managed to minimise risk of CoVID?

Where required, groups will run separate activities on a rota system which covers numeracy and literacy, arts and crafts, sports and themed activities. Team sport activities will follow relevant governing body guidance on how to do so safely. Activities will take place outside where possible to allow for social distancing and for children to be in the open air.
